Live And Let Live

Somanahalli  is a small village in the District of Shivamogga. In that village lived two farmers called Ranggappa and Mallappa. Rangappa had a daughter by name Anjali and a son by name Sagar.Mallappa   too had a son by name Srinivasa and a daughter by name Rakshita. Both Ranggappa’s and Mallappa’s farms lay next to each other.

Ranggappa’s farms had two huge peepul trees. Two little sparrows had built a beautiful nest in one of the peepul trees. All the children enjoyed watching the birds in the nest.

Srinivas was jealous because his father’s farm had neither the peepul trees nor the bird’s nest. One day Srinivas brought a catapult with him to Ranggappa’s farm. He had wicked idea in his mind. He thought ‘If I kill the birds in the nest, then even Anjali and Sagar will not have a nest to boast of.’ Thinking so he raised his catapult and shot one of the birds and the bird fell down hurt. Srinivas ran away from the field.

Anjali, who saw the bird falling down, ran to it.  She picked up the bird and saw that the bird was bleeding. She washed the wound and applied some healing ointment. After sometime the bird flew back to its nest. Anjali was very happy.
